With Valentines coming up love was on the mind and it seemed only fitting it inspire the theme for my latest animated top 10 list. We could do animated moments or most romantic movies, but I thought it would be fun to focus on couples. What are the best animated couples?

There are so many great one’s that it is tough to narrow it down but I did my best. Please let me know what I missed.

Top 10 Animated Couples

  1. Mickey and Minnie-

    mickey and minnie

The couple that started it all. Mickey and Minnie have been a duo ever since they were first drawn by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney in 1928. Through all the years they have been through a lot but they are still smiling and together.   You can currently see them in the Emmy winning Mickey Mouse shorts on Disney Channel.

  1. Wall-e and Eve-walle and eva2

Wall-e would do anything for Eve. It’s love at first sight if I’ve ever seen it. Just their space ballet is enough to get the list in my book. In all seriousness though, Wall-e could teach many bachelor a lesson in dogged determination and never giving up on love. He will not take no as an answer!

  1. Marge and Homer-

    marge and homer

Talk about going through a lot together! Marge puts up with a lot for Homer but he can also be very sweet and thoughtful. Plus, her life would be so boring without him! And when you think about it they’ve had an infant for over 20 years. Who wouldn’t get stressed out at that? 😉

  1. Tarzan and Jane-tarzan and jane3

A couple that manages to bridge cultural and language divides and fall in love anyway. They have great chemistry from the start and the way they show each other their cultures and lifestyles is very sweet and thoughtful. I love how even their kissing with their hands is unique to them.

  1. Shrek and Fiona-shrek and fiona

They have been through a lot together but all along they accept each other for who they are on the inside. They don’t care what other people think about them and love despite objections. Plus, they are a couple with a lot of laughs.

The next 5 are a virtual tie for me. I love them all!

  1. Lady and the Tramp-lady and the tramp

This couple probably has the most iconic romantic moment in animation with Lady and Tramp eating spaghetti and being serenated with Bella Notte. They are from different sides of the track but through their adventures grow to love and accept each other. You’ve got to love that!

  1. Flynn (Eugene) and Rapunzel-flynn and rapunzel

There are a lot of great Disney princesses and prince combinations but my personal favorite is Flynn and Rapunzel. I love them because we get the most dialogue between the two and they accept each other for who they really are. Rapunzel actually prefers Eugene to Flynn and there is something cool about that. They clearly both make each other better. Plus, Eugene is willing to sacrifice himself for his love and isn’t that what love is all about?

  1. Pongo and Perdita/ Roger and Anita-101 dalmatian couples

Can you really separate these two couples? They meet together. Are mirror images of each other and both so sweet I had to cheat a little bit. Pongo and Perdita have 15 puppies and yet still care about each other and then when they are called on to find their puppies they will stop at nothing! Roger and Anita are a perfect match. They laugh at each other’s jokes and are supportive when sad things happen. Plus, who else could find a partner that would think adopting 101 puppies is a ‘wonderful idea!’

  1. Carl and Ellie-up72

We see Carl and Ellie’s relationship play out in one of the most stunning opening acts in film history. The whole world was in tears when we saw their story, and the fact the relationship mains as powerful through the rest of the film as it does is a testament to the intros strength. Carl talks to Ellie and when he learns she has forgiven him at the end it gets me every time.

  1. Jiro and Naoka-jiro and naoka

In the Wind Rises Jiro meets Naoka when he is a young man going to University. Then over the course of many years their love grows and without giving any spoilers they face sickness and sorrow together. It is a beautiful love story and even better because it is based on a true story.  To me that gives it the edge. True love based on a true story inspires me more than any make believe.

What do you think of my list? Who have I forgotten? There are so many I wanted to include but only space for 10. Please put your picks in the comments below and Happy Valentines!
