Well, this is quick. Even before The Little Mermaid releases on Diamond Edition Blu-ray this October, we have our first look at the potential Diamond Edition cover for next Spring’s Diamond Title: The Jungle Book.
Of course, note that this is not the final cover artwork, but only the provisional (temporary) art for the German release. We saw a similar trend with the cover of The Little Mermaid, which was slightly tweaked and polished for the US release.
The cover features many of the main characters, including Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Shere Khan and King Louie.
While this is far from my favorite Diamond Edition Blu-ray cover (that honor goes to Cinderella), I expect Disney to make some major modifications. For one, expect the title to be vertical to match the rest of the movies in the Diamond line.
The next Diamond Edition title, The Little Mermaid releases on Blu-ray on October 1 this year, with The Jungle Book slated for release in Spring 2014 (most probably early February or March).
Disney’s Diamond Collection features twelve of their highest-selling animated classics, extensively restored and remastered to dazzling levels of perfection on Blu-ray. Titles that have previously been given Diamond classification include Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Bambi, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and Peter Pan.
