Pixar on Monday gave us an unexpected surprise: the very first full-length trailer of their eagerly anticipated summer movie Monsters University! The new trailer follows the recently revealed preview and gives us even more insight into the college movie- which is a prequel of 2001’s animated classic, Monsters, Inc.

Mike-Monsters-University

The new trailer heavily focuses on Mike and his time at Monsters University. The trailer is chock full of monster antics and humor that only Pixar can provide. We get a glimpse of Mike and Sulley’s rivalry, as well as many new characters, including Dean Hardscrabble, played by Helen Mirren.

Set 10 years before the events of Monsters, Inc., Monsters University tells the story of how Mike and Sulley first met and how their initial rivalry eventually turned into a lasting friendship.

Will Monsters University live up to the hype? Pixar is in a delicate situation, as both of its recent films (Cars 2 and Brave) turned out to be disappointments after the phenomenal success of Toy Story 3. Nevertheless, we’re certainly excited to see some of our beloved characters back on the big screen in an all new adventure!

What are your thoughts on the new MU trailer? Monsters University and Pixar’s new short, The Blue Umbrella open in theaters June 21.
