Even The Lost World got a lukewarm reception and the trailers didn't grab me, as pretty as the animation was. The trailers for this new Smurfs haven't exactly changed my mind. I personally have nothing against Rihanna as Smurfette just based on the trailers. But the humor was fairly unfunny, the characters look bland, and the story passionless. A pity such innovative animation was thrown away on this, because it looks like a corporate slog.
