I can't agree The Incredibles 2 was not good, or TS4, or even Lightyear. I'll agree they were very flawed films, but from that to not good is so odd to me. I'll fess up, I really enjoyed Elemental, it was a flawed film, more so than say Incredibles 2, but it had a lot of emotion and I found the romance to be cute. You guys know I am a defender of Turning Red, I'll leave it at that. And I can't agree Luca was forgettable. I don't mean to be that guy that loves every animated movie, (because I don't!) and I don't much care about Soul honestly due largely to the silliness with the protagonist turning into a cat which didn't do it for me. I will say none of those films are top drawer Pixar by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm glad you enjoyed the film! I did, too, I guess I'd give it 4 and 1/2 stars, along with Chelsey. I do see how the line, "Maybe this is what happens when you grow up. You feel less joy" could be contentious. But I really liked it, I do think a lot of young children do sometimes experience a kind of unbridled joy that you really can't quite access when you're older for the most part. And also things do, for many of us, get harder than they were as a child, so joy becomes harder to access much of the time. Why did you want poor Riley to be caught!? She went through so much as it was. You were so right about guessing would do great in the theaters, so that's awesome! I really appreciated the film's handling of Anxiety as well, it must have been hard for the writers to to navigate and it turned out well. To be honest, I actually was thinking you've become a bit more negative, especially with how underwhelmed you were by my dear 2011 Winnie the Pooh, but we all change, as this film so beautifully illustrates, and hey, again, I do agree, Pixar has been in somewhat of a rough patch compared to the standard set by their earlier films. I'm so, so glad this film is a return to form and to those Pixar tears! I won't be seeing Garfield in theaters, so it'll be interesting to hear your take on Garfield and hear how forgettable it is. :)
