In reply to Harith Sami. I actually liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland. However, I would be excited for this one if Disney chose to go for a more colorful director.

On one hand the trailer does make it look like a tender story. Especially having it set back in the post-Depression era when the original “Dumbo” was created and people went to the circus to be entertained and brightened up during difficult times. Since Dumbo doesn’t talk, I was wondering how they’d tell a story without Timothy the Mouse. The two kids and Colin Farrel’s character, who appears to be missing an arm, could be that surrogate family for Dumbo after his mother is taken away.

At the same time, there’s Tim Burton’s name that makes me cringe and recall how over-the-top his “Alice in Wonderland” film was. The CGI Dumbo looks awkward next to live-action people. And while some of the recent remakes I’ve liked (“The Jungle Book”) others I’ve thought didn’t hold a candle to the original (“Beauty and the Beast”)

I take it the crows won’t be in this film!

I will give this one a chance the closer we get to release. After reading the new premise I think there’s some potential for a solid film.

In reply to Manuel Orozco. You're right he has an awful track-record when it comes to remakes. Remakes like Planet of the Apes, Willy Wanka and Alice in Wonderland.

Dumbo does look cute as he always should. But I was skeptical of Tim Burton directing this remake. Because the visuals are not enough to convince me it’ll live up to the original’s legacy!
