In reply to Jonathan J. North. I understand how not everyone could like Uncle Grandpa for certain reasons or not really be that impressed by it. It's no masterpiece or even one of CN's best but it was enjoyable cartoony, hilarious surreal, and took pride in what it was. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled without CN even telling the crew. I also feel that the show does get too much hate for ridiculous reasons. However, Browngardt is one of the people I feel could do justice to Looney Tunes and capture what made the original shorts work in the early 30's and 40's. I could really seeing him doing what Clampett did for the characters.

In reply to Dave 52. I wasn't too impressed with Uncle Grandpa, but I've only watched a few episodes as I was reviewing a DVD for this site a few years ago. Perhaps it has improved since then, I have been meaning to check it out again. Either way, even though I wasn't a huge fan of the characters, I did enjoy the very surrealist style of humor, and I thought that if I liked the characters more, I would enjoy the show. If that style of humor was directed toward the Looney Tunes, I am thinking that it could be a perfect match. I am looking forward to seeing how his influence will impact the show.

Warner Brothers has not yet announced a network. So far they’ve just said that it will be rolled out on digital, mobile, and broadcast, so I would imagine that eventually you might be able to watch it on YouTube, like Disney does with its Mickey Mouse series. I believe they premiere on the Disney Channel, after which they go up on their YouTube channel. I’m going to assume they’ll have more info next year before the premiere, and if so, I will most likely do a follow-up article.

Great artwork! It does bear some similarities, especially Big Bird. 🙂

Well this is cool! I agree, has a Mickey shorts vibe to it, but even moreso with the animation style being consistent with the originals. Interesting about the season order being by minutes and not by episode – should be neat to see where the artists take that and how the different-length shorts mesh together. Can’t wait!

Not only is this phenomenal news, but this is a BRILLIANNT way to bring the Looney Tunes back into relevance by having the shorts be cartoonist driven like the original shorts. This could be WB true equivalent to the Mickey Mouse shorts if done right. Can’t wait!

P.S. I am so glad they got Pete Browngardt, one of my inspirations, is working on this return of the characters. I believe he proved with Uncle Grandpa that he knows how to make wonderfully wacky cartoons that embrace the fact that they are cartoons He has made comments on how he wants to capture the “super irreverent, high energy, and bananas” spirit of the early shorts of the 30’s and 40’s and I couldn’t be happier.
