Yeah, because “Abominable” and “Spooky Jack” aren’t new or original. Yeah, majority of the films they are releasing are sequels but they do have some original projects in the works.

I’m excited for Trolls 2 and Croods 2 as well

I don’t know, some these projects could be promising in their own way. Films like Beekle, The Bad Guys, Sputnik, and Yokai Samba all could be possible winners for the company. I can easily see The Bad Guys being the next Captain Underpants.

The part about the strategy isn’t speculation, it is literally stated by the head-ups of the company.

Since their financial issues few years ago and the firing of 500 employees, many movies were cancelled, delayed or still to be determined, many of the films on the list aren’t likely to be made.
DreamWorks’ new strategy seems to focus on safer movies with lower budgets mainly aimed at young kids and to sell as much merch as possible. Hope they abandon that method soon.
