Remember right before the little girl stormed out on the old man and she said what if he never made it to his rose? The actually story ends with the prince being bit by the snake. She was inspired by the story and let her imagination intertwine herself into the story like the old man was in the very beginning. The little prince lost his way and was stuck in the world of just being essential like everyone else was BUT the little girl reminded Mr. Prince that he was the Little Prince. She saved him and got him back to his rose and then the little girl really understood that it's okay to grow up as long as she doesn't forget. But by saving the little prince it encourages adults watching that they don't have to forget too. The part where the mom rips up the story and throws the fox in the trash broke my heart. As a parent or grown person in a child's life we all need to remember to let our children be children and be like the old man and not the essential business man.

i always thought that the part where she rescues the little prince was something she made on her own imagination, presumably to cope with the fact that the old man was gonna die, the movie doesn't explain everything, so you have to firgure it out yourself, still i think it was a great movie :)

I've heard so many good things about this movie! I appreciate your well thought out, relatively objective review. It sounds like it has a lot of heartfelt moments coupled with unique animation styles. I can understand why you were taken aback when the real world suddenly became a fantasy one, but I'll have to watch the film myself to judge whether or not that bothers me.

I'm the only one in the world who actually preferred the weird dystopian business stuff at the end. The earlier parts were pretty but dull for me

I get where you're coming from. The ending, though, felt like a natural continuation of the girl's story-line. After hearing the story of the Little Prince, she made the story her own. She became part of the story and it part of her. Tennyrate, this is one of my favorites.

I really tried hard to really LOVE this movie, but the Little Prince parts are so beautiful and perfect, that looking at the added other characters, it's such a shame it wasn't as strong...kinda disappointing :/
