As a film in whole it's enjoyable feel good movie, it's not a masterpiece.
However there are particularly two very impactful acts portrayed in the film. The first act is HTTYD good, and ends at the flower festival. The third act also respectfully addresses the moral of the book in a genuine but powerful execution. So when I find people saying it's not staying true to the book I rub my head in confusion. It's still respecting the source material despite the troubled 2nd act.

The thing that brings the film down is the 2nd act that still has some very good parts too but is mostly damaged by filler comedy. But those two acts I mentioned are extremely beautiful and really brought my respects for Blue Sky as a studio. In the first 5 minutes we have a very rare portrayal of a little boy character that stands up for himself from bullying and yet remains the loveable bull. It was very powerful for me and I respect them for making such a powerful portrayal of a little boy not wanting to be tough. Ferdinand is a very troubled but beautiful film for me.

Well I wanted Cars 3 to win the big honor since it was a better Pixar movie. Coco regardless was beautiful. Proving that the past year Pixar has given us a rare combination in an animated feature. Colorful animation poignant story and whimsical comic relief.

Honestly, Coco didn't have a whole lot of competition this year. That being said, I still think it's very deserving of these honors, I just worry that they might mean less because of the lack of competition.
