I am Insomniac Tiger on iTunes! Absolutely made my day! I leave reviews occasionally on Youtube and for many other forms of media. When people are amazing I like to make sure they know it! Which is why I am now on the website reviewing each episode! The Jungle Book 2 was not a movie I was particularly fond of upon its release. I wanted to like it since I love the first so much. But in all honesty, the Disney Sequels were not great. By any means. The only sequels I personally own and watch on occasion are Simba's Pride and Return to Neverland. This may be simply because of nostalgia factor though.
I do believe the only enjoyable parts of the Jungle Book 2 were Smash Mouth and Haley Joel Osment's voice acting. I remember those days when it was almost a game to see how many movies he appeared in. Also I don't know if either of you have ever played it, though I am sure you've heard of it, but he is also the voice actor for the main character in Disney's Kingdom Hearts series.

I'm with you ladies; don't think any of the sequels are worth fixing up and bringing to the big screen (except "King of Thieves"). Yet hands down I would have been compelled to watch Morgan's version of "Jungle Book 2" where the kids have to find their way home, and maybe include something of a treasure hunt because that's a chapter in the novel.

I was so excited to hear Chelsea read the Kipling book! A family relative made a comment to me, "I don't think it's for little kids" because yes, the protagonist is Mowgli, but it is a book with dark and intense moments. Bagheera's backstory of being forced to entertain humans means he has experience and wisdom; he is aware of how cruel or compassionate people can be and I think that's why he is protective of Mowgli because he knows this boy has the capacity to take down Shere Khan. In the book Mowgli has his bratty moments but he's mostly cheeky and cunning.

If I could bring any direct to video film to the big screen it would be (The Search For Christopher Robin). And If I could make it on a bigger budget I would make the animation more cinematic even though I haft to say that it has aged well on Blu-ray with it's cel animation.
