In reply to Marielle. I mean Branch is repeatedly criticized because he doesn't want to dance or sing. Not enjoying everything in the group is not allowed. There isn't freedom for diversity or individual thought. Even the bergens have to all be the same to be happy and like the same stuff

I put this slightly above Home in the category of “Surprisingly Endearing” films that DW’s has made so far. I didn’t have high expectations when I went to go see it and I enjoyed it for its animation, music, and even the relationships that form between the characters. I think this is a decent re-tool for the Trolls franchise and does a good job of embodying what it means to be happy.

In reply to Rachel Wagner. I think that's digging too deep. I think the message is don't count on external things to make you happy, and don't wallow in misery if you can't have them, happiness is on the inside and its a feeling you can cultivate.

In reply to Jeremiah. I don't listen to Can't Stop the Feeling a lot. But that doesn't mean I find it annoying. To me it proves that Justin can still do good solo as he did with NSYNC.

I agree with pretty much everything in this article. In my opinion, the best way to describe this film is mediocre. I understand why people love this film, but outside of the animation nothing truly stood out to me. While I did like the relationship between Poppy and Branch, I did not enjoy either character individually. Considering that it is based on a toy line, Trolls could have been much worse, but it seemed like the filmmakers settled for halfway decent when they could have achieved much more.

I personally can’t get enough of this animation, it just looks so fluffy and so real!! Besides the songs presented it just felt really empty by the end like it was some weird junk food for the mind, not the best but I still really liked the elements it had 🙂

Yeah the animation is cool but my main issue was the messaging. Everyone has to like the same things and find happiness from the same things or they are criticized and excluded. What a weird message for kids

I agree about the animation and story. But the voice casting and some of the music stand out. But in particular Can’t Stop the Feeling, Get Back Up Again, (written by La La Land lyricists Pasek and Paul), They Don’t Know (Ariana Grande), True Colors and the end credits team up of September with Justin, Anna and the surviving members of Earth Wind & Fire. One big flaw I found was the antagonism in the form of Cheif and fellow Troll Creek. That gave me a bit of Frozen Deja Vu. Maybe the sequel and Netflix show will be even more fun.
