I FINALLY got a chance to watch this episode over the holiday... and it was somewhat predictable, but an obvious stand-out character has me intrigued with the remainder of the season.

I've seen a few episodes of the series thus far (including "Before Ever After"), and I like how the newer series-only characters entangle (ha) themselves with the main cast from "Tangled", most especially here. Having Eugene being actually active in this episode and Rapunzel in a REALLY uncomfortable situation really helps them grow more as characters, and I can really appreciate that... especially in a Disney cartoon that doesn't talk down to its audience (I'm looking at you, Lion Guard).

But yeah, Varian is the stand-out star of this episode, hands down. His character began as more of a fanboy (in my opinion) with a love for experimental science, and I won't lie that I wanted to be annoyed with him at times. However, this episode really made his character someone to really watch out for as the main story gets closer to season finale territory. Also, he sings... and it is pretty great!

Overall, THIS is probably one of Disney's better movie-to-TV series yet, and it keeps getting better over time. I am looking forward to the rest of the season, especially with this gripping overarching storyline!

I agree. He seems to be working on so many projects at once that he isn't able to really give each one his full effort, which is disappointing because we know how great he can be.

I really thought this show would allow Menken to finally get his EGOT, but he really isn't bringing his A-game to these songs.

This series is a gem. I usually can't stand TV cartoons for long, but this one is just so charming. The humor is great and the art style is beautiful. It also captures the characters from the movie really well. It's like the perfect movie-to-TV tie-in.

Good review. I think this might be the best episode of the show so far. It felt the most cinematic to me because the visuals and score were at their best, plus the songs were pretty good. I agree that Rapunzel and Eugene's relationship was a highlight here; I like how Rapunzel feels comfortable telling him about things that are troubling her, and he's always there to support her.
