Not gonna lie – the character designs really turned me off on this one. But the synopsis actually sounds like one of DreamWorks’ better films – I’ll have to give this one a watch someday!

It does for cavemen what HTTYD did for vikings, but I think it’s missing the oomph factor of the dragons. The new guy kind of replaces the dragon – he is at first disliked by the father, but is accepted in the end. I think the sequel is going to be its own thing. It looks like they will focus on the family comedy by bringing in a second family.

I agree it is one of DreamWorks best movies. Even if it gets a little cheesy in terms of humor and conflicts. It was my favorite animated film of 2013 tied with Turbo and Despicable Me 2. (Forgive Me Freezers)

When this was first released, I thought it would be ridiculous. The posters didn’t draw me in. I dismissed it, but years later I watched it on a flight and fell absolutely in love. It’s now one of my favourite movies ever!

First time I saw it it felt a little bland to me, but yes the environment and animation is really stunning! But after reading this may give it another chance 🙂

I like The Croods and consider it to be among the best animated films of 2013. However, I just don’t think it is as enjoyable as Sanders’ previous films. Perhaps it was because he deviated from his typical storytelling formula or perhaps it was the lengthy development of this film, but it just does not feel as heartfelt or emotional as Lilo and Stitch or How to Train Your Dragon. Nevertheless, the voice acting is very good, the animation is beautiful, and all of the characters are likable even if the relationships, as the article mentions, can be reminiscent of other, better films.
