I saw this back when it was on demand for free, I remember thinking it was ok but now after hearing people really liking this one I definitely wanna give it another watch, as well as the others again lol!!
But totally agree it was a super fitting end for these movies, so crazy how dramatically satisfying too!

In reply to <a href="https://www.rotoscopers.com/2017/11/17/dreamworks-countdown-24-madagascar-3-europes-most-wanted/#comment-36650">Sebastian</a>.

I agree about the emotional arc. The first film was about them escaping the zoo and reconnecting with their wild side. The second film was about them finding their roots and getting to know where they came from. The third film I believe is about them finding something that's right for them, something that's neither the zoo nor the wild, but I didn't feel it as much. The movie felt more like a mad cap adventure in which they happen to join a circus, but it happens randomly. They join the circus because they really need a ride, not because it's what they want to do. That being said, the art style is indeed much better. The trapeze scene is surprisingly beautiful and artistic for a Katy Perry song with lasers.

This was the most exciting of the three Madagascar
films and easily the best looking. I like how huge they
made this with all the characters and action scenes. It
adds to be a fun movie. However, the 2nd one is still
the best in my view because the characters in that one
were better developed and there was more emotion.

This movie works very good as a feel good movie but it doesn't work as emotional or complex. To tell this, most likely Madagascar 2 had somewhat of a better story approach than the 3rd does. But even so Madagascar 1 had a rather moving development sequence between Alex & Marty facing their inner instincts as predator and prey. Madagascar 3 is visually appealing and lots of fun, that I will give it. The villain is really memorable and overall probably favourite character in the film. Where Madagascar 3 fails is the story and character development for Alex's zoo friends. That includes Marty, Melman & Gloria who gets nothing to move the story forward, they're more filler. They're just there! And I'm not a fan of the romance between Alex & Gia. It feels alright I guess but Alex really didn't need a love interest for the movie to be interesting. However Madagascar 3 is the funniest of the franchise in my book. At least it doesn't feel as outdated as it's predecessors. And I give it a plus for having such a vibrant animation with so much life on the screen.

I think that this film is decent, but there is something missing that would elevate it to the heights of DreamWorks' best films. The article is right that this film is extremely zany, and I think that this is one of the aspects that prevented it from being more enjoyable. On the surface, I should have liked this movie more, considering that the European setting is very interesting and the jokes work more often than they do not. Still, this film is the best of the trilogy and is one of the better comedies that DreamWorks has produced. As a side note, I believe that the labelling of Madagascar as the second non-Shrek CG DreamWorks film is incorrect. That title belongs to Shark Tale, as Antz was the first CG DreamWorks film outside of the Shrek series.
