I’ll try and check out the blog if you can give me a link. And episodic are the cartoons I might want to watch. For now I’ll stick with the new Ducktales Star Wars Rebels Tangled Hotel Transylvania and Spider Man. While we are at it, Avatar was my middle school years.

Well, I started losing interest in SpongeBob around the second year of the post-first movie episodes and found more to love in the epic storytelling-driven show Avatar: The Last Airbender. In fact, I remember blaming SpongeBob for why there was such a huge gap between Book 2 and Book 3 of Avatar (that was when I was much younger).
Ever since then, I’ve been looking into other acclaimed shows from various networks. They included modern story and creativity-driven shows like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, and even the mini-series Over the Garden Wall. I also found animated series that are more episodic but have stronger heart, more likable characters, and are interesting to look at such as Phineas and Ferb, and The Loud House. I’ve even found great storytelling and works that stress what animation can do in much older shows I never watched when I was younger like the original DuckTales and Animaniacs (the latter being my favorite animated TV show of all time). I even grew to better appreciate old cartoons I did grow up with like Hey Arnold and the Peanuts specials. To say nothing about the quality work of classic animation pieces like the Disney features and shorts and the Looney Tunes of Warner Brothers for which my interests peaked in 2008 when I felt that I had officially retired from SpongeBob.
Works like these to me seem like the kind of shows that fit the animation medium since they tell big stories, or mine it for creatively entertaining possibilities. SpongeBob just sort of turned out to be a mundane show about sea creatures going about their lives, not to mention losing a lot of its heart and sense of fun as the show went on. Even claims that it’s gotten better aren’t enough to entice me to spend time watching it.

Fairly Oddparents has been put to rest. Like other original Nicktoons released in the past decade that didn’t meet the network’s expectations, the last few episodes were dumped onto Nicktoons Network and after that, nothing was mentioned about the show.
