I forgot that this film even existed, and now I have to go stare at something pretty to salvage my eyes from those horrible character designs. I do not regret never seeing this one. Even as a kid, I knew from the trailer to stay away.

Chicken Little! That’s the movie I should have said when there was that blog post about “bad animated film that you still like”.

But yeah, Shark Tale is wretched.

In reply to CarFan. The Incredibles deserved to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature but I also loved Shrek 2. If I had to pick a third nominee it would have been Polar Express. Because it's as good as Shark Tale only more groundbreaking in terms of animation and genuine heart.

I’m quiet embarrassed that I liked this movie as a kid, but today, Shark Tale has aged so horribly in every aspect. At least I still think Lenny is a likeable and sympathetic character though.

However, the big question remains: Why on earth was this nominated Best Animated Feature at the Oscars!?

If this movie accomplished one thing, it made me despise a character voiced by Will Smith, who is one of my favorite actors. This is a bad, borderline awful film. Some of the puns work, but that’s really the only aspect of this film that I actually enjoy. What was most disappointing for me was not the lazy story or the sloppy animation but rather the voice acting. What is the point of hiring these big name actors if they don’t invoke much enthusiasm into their lines in the first place?

Oh “Shark Tale”….one of a few movies I enjoyed watching, growing up in Cary, Illinois. But now, aside from a few laughs I got (Sykes always blowing up everytime he gets exasperated, especially in the French dub), this movie is just plain bad. The writing is horrible, I didn’t care for any of the characters and it has some of the ugliest animation I have ever seen. Personally, I would defend “Chicken Little” as a guilty pleasure over Will “Oscar” Smith.

Thought this was ok as a little kid. But looking at it now, it’s bad. Do to all
the pop culture references, it’s dated. The characters (expect Lenny) are
unlikable, the animation is poor (for a DWA film), and the story is cliched.

I somehow sorta liked this one as a kid and even remember being with my teacher and her kids watching this (I don’t remember how I was in that situation….) but yeah it was pretty good for me at that young age
But yeah looking back and just seeing how ugly and just how horrible the writing is…its not a fondly remembered movie for me….
Omg it got a Oscar nom tho??? WHAT THE HECK!!!! ://////////////////
