In reply to WordzOfWizdom. There are a lot of animated movies that seem to get too easily written off by many people as 'kid's' movies. I will say that I liked Chicken Run as a kid, but I 'get' so much more of it as an adult, and I probably like it more now too, so I think you were on to something back then. :)

One of the greatest animated films of all time, period. I saw it 31 times in the theaters. No joke; that’s how incredible it was to me.

Way back In 2001, I worked in the movie section at a Virgin Megastore. I tried my damnedest to have it kept in the comedy section instead of the children’s movie section, but to no avail.

I agree with you on having more fun with this movie when your older, since when I was young watching it I just thought it was ok and creepy with Mrs. Tweedy and her brother scaring me so much
But then when I was in middle school watching it again I was OBSESSED with it!! I replayed it so much and just had a ball I honestly claimed it as my favorite movie for the longest time! (It certainly is still one of my favorites!) Its so funny, heartfelt and just so much fun watching it when your older! Ahhhh such a great film totally agree!!

Dang, this article has inspired me to give this a re-watch! I haven’t seen Chicken Run since I was a kid, and do remember it being a little hard to follow. I would probably love it now, especially as I’ve since been drawn into the world of British comedy.

At the age of 5, I was lucky to see Chicken Run in theaters when it came out. To this day, I still think it’s one of the best.

This film and “The Road to El Dorado” are tied as my favorite DreamWorks movie of all time. I love the characters, the setting, the concept and everything that makes this film very British/American. But there is one thing that bothered me: this film is somehow underrated nowadays. I think because of the success of other DreamWorks movies like “Shrek” and “Kung Fu Panda”. Is there a fan-base website to “Chicken Run”?

Chicken Run was the first stop motion feature I ever liked! I nowadays prefer CGI over any other form of animation. I wasn’t familiar with the voice cast except Mel Gibson when he voiced John Smith in Pocahontas for Disney. The humor went easily over my head as a kid. The story and visual narrative are able to make up for that.

This is not only my favorite film from Aardman, it is my favorite stop motion film in general. The animation is incredible, the voice acting is flawless, the humor is well balanced with the more dramatic moments, and the characters have the quirky sensibilities that endeared audiences to the Wallace and Gromit shorts. I truly cannot think of a single flaw with this movie, which is not something that I cannot say about any other DreamWorks film. I highly recommend this film to animation fans of any age.
