I think the beginning of the movie is so entertaining and fun.
But like you guys said it is sad you get to know so little the people of el dorado.
Also one quick question I have been binge your podcast and I hear at least one everyday and in one episode mason said
Something about Argentina. I was wondering if he is Argentinianor something like that cause I’m from there!
I have a question. What is your all time favorite dreamworks movie?

Oh no, ha ha! Not you guys–the people who titled the movie “Road” when the movie hardly covered their journey at all. Sorry that wasn’t very clear! I just really wanted to include a Princess Bride quote in there. 😉 You guys are better at getting your thoughts across than I am!

I’m not sure what you mean when you say we don’t understand what montage means? I montage is a series of scenes cut together. In this case, various parts of their journey as they uncover different parts from the map.

Agreed on the romance scene. It’s only purpose is for Miguel to walk in on them and, instead of asking questions, just to run out on Tulio in order to “break up the band”.

I love Road To El Dorado. It’s such a nostalgia trip for me. It’s just a campy, fun, rompy adventure and the two main leads have wonderful chemistry. The horse is perfect, right up there with Maximus. Chel is cool and funny, but I also found the implied lewd between her and Tulio quite awkward. Agreed that Miguel is the best guy. The animation is really eye-catching and appealing and stunning etc. The songs aren’t like super catchy but they’re all good and they work. I liked how the Chief knew they weren’t really gods but he just was extraordinarily chill and liked them anyway, and how there was absolutely no language barrier.

I like the music–well the Trailblazing song basically, and the closeness between the two leads. I think it is ironic that the title is about the Road but as you state in the podcast, their journey is pretty much literally just a montage. #youkeepusingthatword #idonotthinkitmeanswhatyouthinkitmeans

Also I feel like the ‘romance’ scene is just… whhhyyy. So not necessary. Was it because the movies had two male leads? The whole boys will be boys so of course one’s going to get with the pretty total stranger that they are just going to trust because… she purdy? Sorta sexist all around. Really surprising that would come from the same studio that made the Prince of Egypt.

I had a lot of fun discussing this one. It’s definitely not a perfect film, but having been so far removed from it, it was nice to go back and check it out. I also find it interesting that it has such a strong fanbase (from all the “Woohoos!” I’ve seen on various social media postings for the episode.)
