Meh nope. First there are already Comic Cons NY and SD, and their is also Star Wars Celebration every year.

What are they going to be showing in these fan events if they are already showing them at D23 every year?

It would suck for the fans thats for sure. Simce it would limit the exposure of the Disney properties to D23.

I might be the only one but, i prefer it to be every two years, I get my news for D23 as the big years, and in the small years between D23 Expo, we have Destination D. I was well satisfied with the news we got this year, and there are always people who record the panels to put them online (like Parks, Games and TV panels).

I say it should happen every year so that any kind of Disney fan is 100% up to date on what’s coming soon and in the works.

I’d love for it to be a yearly endeavor if they could produce enough content for it… Which really wouldn’t be that hard. Not everything needs to be announcements. Retrospective panels, art exhibitions, discussions with creators and Disney legends, etc. Since Marvel, Pixar, ABC, and Star Wars are all under the umbrella they could have advance screenings of new pilots and shorts… I’d love to see a page to screen series of panels for Marvel myself. It’d also be great if they could have a cartoon workshop of sorts where creators are given a small budget to create a short around a show idea. These shorts could be aired first at D23 and then released online. The ones with the best reviews/responses could be greenlit as full blown series. It’d give new creators a chance to flex their muscles and working with deadlines/budgets. Plus, your demographic would already be in the seats… These people are massive fans of Disney and probably plan to share it with their families.
Heck, they might already be doing these things and I wouldn’t know. I’ve always wanted to go, but I forget that it’s every two years until it’s too late to plan the trip. Yearly sticks in the mind better. I know exactly when SDCC is every year without looking it up. Same for other conventions with narrower fanbases.
Disney is one of the largest companies in the world, has a rich history that is just as interesting as anything new they’re creating, and has a fanbase that spans generations…I think they can create the content required for a yearly convention.

If Disney can have the patience to make most of their major announcements at the expo, then sure, it would be very successful and fun. However, at the current state, relatively little new/major information is revealed there in my opinion, and that’s every TWO years, which really irks me. Only exception this year was the Disney Parks panel.

Disney is a very smart company, but for some reason, whoever is responsible for managing the expo seems to be doing a terrible job quality-wise. The last two expos have been very underwhelming, at least for those of us not attending. It’s sad because these events have huge potential. I enjoy following D23 Expo every two years, but it can really do so much better.

Just my two cents.

I don’t think enough was shown to the public this year to justify holding it every other year. Yearly showings are possible, and would be preferable.
