I’m hoping Wreck It Ralph 2 is decent as well. As for Frozen 2, where they will go story wise will decide if I’m looking forward to it.

That’s okay to me that you’re not. But I know one thing, DreamWorks Animation doesn’t always make something of fine taste.

Shrek 2 is the best of them but I’m not a huge fan of the series

I disagree Emperors New Groove was Shrek before Shrek. That film had pop culture references coming every second. The only thing separating the two films is the handdrawn/CG and of course Shrek is the way better film.

What? Who Framed Roger Rabbit was clearly a parody comedy. The whole film parodied Detective Film Noirs like the Maltese Falcon and Chinatown. Emperors New Groove did several Parody Humors with all those pop culture jokes similar to the Warner Bros Looney Tune shorts.

People love the first two Shrek films because its themes resonated with people and the characters were relateable and well developed. The later films went away from that hence they were less successful.

Disney isn’t aping anybody. Dreamworks and Illumination doesn’t have Exclusive rights to be the only animation company to do Parody Humor. Like I said earlier which you clearly ignored. Walt Disney did parody humor with his shorts and his films. Its in Disneys history so why shouldn’t they be able to do it.

A scene like this should also be expected since a similar scene happened in the first film. With the Villian Support Group in the first film.

Meh Ill wait till the actual film comes out before I give my opinions on the scene. Comedy is about timing anyway.

Dont put words into my mouth. I said its snobbish to suggest Disney is some how above this kind of humor since the Man who started the company was doing long before.

I wouldn’t call either of those movies parody movies. They have a few jokes here and there but the entire premise of Shrek is a fairytale parody. That series pumps out the jokes about films and pop culture a mile a minute. It’s what people love about them. I am not putting Disney on a pedestal but I do want them to do their own thing and not ape Dreamworks and Illumination. The princess clip felt like they were doing that. We already get enough of that kind of humor. Give me witty dialogue (Groove, Aladdin) or physical comedy (Roger Rabbit). I guess above all make me laugh and the princess skit didn’t make me laugh. It felt like very low hanging fruit. I guess if that makes me a snob so be it.

I guess you didnt like “Emperors New Groove” or “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” either since those films did parody humor also.

And since when did Shrek became the only Animated Property to do parody humor?

The medium has been doing parody humor since its infancy. Go watch any of the Warner Bros shorts from 40s. And yes Walt Disney also did parody humor if you watch any of the Disney shorts from the past.

Fans really need to stop putting Disney on a pedestal. As if they are too good for this kind of humor. Since it obviously wasn’t beneath Walt. It just comes off snobbish.

Didn’t have much of a problem with Moana like I did a little with Zootopia.

Well in Zootopia it was a little unnecessary especially with the Let It Go joke. But it couldn’t ruin my enjoyment so easily.
