In reply to Trev. Personally, I've never been a fan of the minions. What drew me in was always the "emotional core" of the story, ie. the bad guy turning into a father.

I think it has to be the first time Gru and the girls met when they were selling cookies, and when he adopts the girls and shows them his home 🙂
