The ending is too similar to The Iron Giant and the side characters are one-dimensional, but otherwise Big Hero 6 is a fantastic film. Baymax was a lovable character, the setting was very creative, the action scenes were awesome, and the theme about dealing with grief was handled well in a mature way. And while the story would be typical for a Marvel movie, as a Disney Animated film, they did it mostly in a unique fashion. Overall, while the ending and side characters are nothing special, the theme and emotional feel were great.

I agree with you. This movie is really flawed, but I think I could put this as Disney’s answer to another flawed, yet really good animated film: DreamWorks’ “Rise of the Guardians”.

And am I the only one who was glad that this film won the Oscar instead of “How to Train Your Dragon 2”? Because 2014 wasn’t a great year for animation.
