No need to apologize for disliking Tangled. Unlike the ass holes who mock people for liking Frozen, you didn’t put down someone else for their opinion.

Understandable, but I do think that using a similar formula makes there less room for changes. Personally, when I get down to it, Tangled’s story and characters aren’t much different from Aladdin’s, but that’s my take on it.

Tangled is as good as HTTYD.

I’m not opposed to feminism either especially with women making their mark in Hollywood in recent years. Tangled to me is good as Frozen but better than Princess and the Frog!

So what’s there to love about this movie? Everything! First, I will say that Rapunzel is one of the most appealing Disney princesses ever. How could you not fall in love with this character? Her personality is so fun, and I love that they gave her some little imperfections like her buck teeth. Those details just make her all the more relatable.

Next, I’m a huge fan of classic Alan Menken music and this movie didn’t disappoint. I feel like this was the first time in a while that the music sort of took me back to those early 90s Disney movies. For me, the music really helped make this feel like a classic Disney animated feature.

I know I don’t need to, but I’m going to mention it anyway. The animation is “Blow-Your-Mind” amazing! I think the reason behind this was the fact that Glen Keane himself went over every shot, instructing the animators on ways to improve their animation and make it more appealing and more 2D-like. This elevated the animation style above and beyond what it might have been. I love the fact that the film has a “painted” look, something else to attribute to Glen Keane’s involvement with the film. I remember reading a review early on in pre-production that he wanted to give the film a “painted” feel and was really inspired by the look of the painting “The Swing” by Jean-Honoré Fragonard. We get a little nod to this in Frozen when Anna is jumping up and down next to the paintings.

For me, this film was perfect. It had everything I could ever ask for in an animated Disney movie. It left me excited for what was to come and, for the first time in a long time, I actually felt a little of that Disney Magic that I had been missing for so long!

I’m glad too to be honest since the trailers looked like it was going to be a little corny.

Tangled also got me excited for Disney again 🙂 I hadn’t been to the movies to watch a Disney film since the disapointment with Home on the Range. I watched Tangled long after it released, only because a video store was closing close to home and they were selling all DVDs real cheap. I saw Tangled and thought “why not?”. I went home, watched it and loved it! Then I watched it again and again and again. Then I made all my friends and family watch it! Yes! Disney was alive again! Ever since I’ve been excited about new Disney movies and counting the days to their release 🙂
