The question I have is whether this will be better than Zootopia? I personally don’t think so.

This scene wasn’t bad, just not that funny. I’m still looking forward to this and I think Moana will be a good movie, but I’m no longer expecting a masterpiece. Musker and Clements are legendary filmmakers, but they haven’t made a great movie since Aladdin.

I think that’s just a modern trend in film. Disney want to promote a strong and independent female character. However, it seems the only way they can do
that is to make the male character a jerk. This doesn’t bother me personally,
but I’m sure that this is a result of modern culture with some politics thrown in.

The clip seems way too much like Rapunzel and Eugene’s first meeting. I’m not liking this trend in the recent Disney films by having the leading male start out as a jerk (Naveen, Eugene, Kristoff, Nick) while having the leading female be the one to straighten them out and work together (Tiana, Rapunzel, Anna, Judy).

On the positive side, though, the cast is still solid, and in the end, it’s just one clip. I’ll keep neutral expectations.

Oof, that tweeting joke would’ve worked far better in Zootopia. (Not only as a animal pun, but that was a modern city with smartphones/computers so it would’ve fit perfectly.) Here in Moana however, that’s giving me vibes of Brother Bear with “Modern words/hip slang that doesn’t fit in it’s setting.”
I’ve also noticed that with every new clip that’s been released of Moana, the general hype is not nearly as high as it was compared to last year. Last year people were supremely hyped for this, some thinking it’s a potential “Instant Classic”. I’m not seeing that kind of hype anymore, which lines up with a friend in the know who mentioned Moana was tested in May internally and it didn’t test that well. Best to keep expectations in check here.

I am not going to get my hopes high for this film. The hype might blind me, and I want ot stay objective. The clip does have me a bit worried though.
