I don’t know if any of you read the comments, especially one week after the podcast has posted, but I wanted to put in my two cents regarding hiring the “correct ethnicity” when it comes to voice acting. While I agree to an extent that a voice actor should be judged on the merits of his or her voice acting skills, as a minority (Asian), I can see how difficult it is for a minority actor to get significant roles in major films or tv shows, unless they have a minority-focused theme (like “Fresh Off the Boat” or “Slumdog Millionare”). Generally mainstream media will have a token Asian, Native American, or Arab, but multiple actors of any race other than Caucasian are rare. So I appreciate it when studios make an effort to hire a minority actor, even if it means they can’t hire a big-name celebrity, because that means a minority actor is getting employment.

Otherwise, thank you for your podcast! Kudos to Mason for soldiering on when Chelsea’s internet connection broke off!

I don’t hate the movie, but it’s a completely different movie than the first one. The only thing it shares with the first movie is most of the characters and the actors who voice them and that’s it Other than that, this could have easily been its own movie, but of course they couldn’t help but put the ‘American Tail’ name on it for name recognition purposes.
