In reply to AnimatedKid. I find Pocahontas to be better because they tried to tell a different type of story, and the looks of that film are beautiful. Hercules is just a lackluster movie. I mean they tried to make it unique with the gospel music and all, but it just doesn't work at all.

I find this to be one of the weakest 90’s Disney films. Of course the animation is impressive, but it’s overall just too weird. The gospel songs and gods felt out of place, all the references to earlier Disney films were unnecessary, and I never cared for the goofy tone. They handled the standard coming-of-age tale in a weird, not good way. I wonder though what caused the post Lion King 90’s Disney films to differ so much in quality. I figure the departure of Katzenberg caused the quality differences, but there has to be something else.

One of my favorite Disney(and childhood) movies. Super fun AND funny through and through. I’m 100% blind to its “flaws.” When a movie is as colorful and fun as Hercules, it’s hard to criticize it IMO.

With Pocohantas the really brilliant stuff of the Renaissance halted and the films immediately got more divisive .They just weren’t the masterpieces that are so in your face excellent everyone agrees they’re borderline perfect. Honestly from what I hear this film is as a good a confirmation as any that momentum was lost.
