I liked Hoodwinked as a kid (I'm 16 now). The animation was horrible, but the story was cleaver and unique. Otherwise, I can't stand films that are badly animated.

You make a great point and I agree. The other day I was watching a Smurfs movie where they go from 2D to 3D and I had the same thought. Bad hand drawn is much more palatable than bad CG

I find myself more forgiving of bad hand drawn animation then I am CGI or Flash.
Looking at older animation even "bad ones" theres a bit of character to the living lines and the artistry even when done with poor effort. However, with the rise of technology, certrain animation methods are used not for stylization but for literally cheaper animation. It looks more obviously so. A bad CGI film easily falls into the uncanny valley, a bad flash looks like flat paper forms moving around a background, while a bad hand drawn cartoon will just look more slow or "trippy" than entirely cheap.

Yeah that's basically the question. Can you enjoy a film knowing the animation isn't great? Looks like you can. That's awesome.

I thought the question was at first about enjoying the bad animation.

Sausage party had some subpar animation yet everything else was great.

Ok, I take it back: "We're Back!" has really good animation! Sorry about that. I guess I sorta learned it from the Nostalgia Critic.
