over wander yonder and Phineas and Ferb, both show had a different style. same way for The Loud House. not all cartoons need be very complex. only need a good story and good characters.

Milo sounded like an Animaniacs character when I first heard about him. Like that baby that kept crawling into dangerous situations all grown up.

I feel like P&F tried to embrace its formulaic style and went a little too far with that at times. The point about their characters being at odds with the world is interesting though, given the “it’s my world and we’re all living in it” line and the fact that time travel apparently plays such a large role in this series. Maybe we’re going to see something more Adventure Time this go around, with the cute problem of the week episodes transitioning into a larger plot!

Unfortunately, I’m not sure if I’ll get into this. I was a huge Phineas and Ferb fan at one point, but then shows like Gravity Falls and Steven Universe came along and raised the bar for storytelling in children’s cartoons. Phineas and Ferb is still a cute and funny show, but it’s also very simple and formulaic compared to other shows that have come out these past few years. I guess I’m just not as easily impressed anymore. Oh well.
