As I've stated before on the start of the Bronze Era on the Disney countdown, "The Great Mouse Detective" is one of my favorite films out of that bunch, between "Robin Hood" and "The Rescuers".

I loved the relationships between the characters, the animation, that KICK-A clock tower fight scene (especially when Glen Keane shows us Ratigan at his "beastliest", no later pun intended.) and most of all, Henry Mancini's music. To me, its like the composer of the "Pink Panther" theme song once met Igor Stravinsky, the composer of many pieces of music such as "The Firebird", "Petrushka" and "The Rite of Spring".

And yes, Fidget did scare me a bit as a kid (The one scene that took the cake for me was in the toyshop sequence, disguised as a baby in the crib, yeech.)

I don't have a deep nostalgia or big fond of this movie but was part of my childhood. Happy 30th anniversary and good luck to directors John Musker and Rob Clements this November with Moana.

Ahh I really liked this movie! I heard about this movie from a funny YouTube video (it wasn't a review but just a parody) and it looked pretty cool, and that's what I think of this, really cool! The characters are really fun (especially Ratigan and Basil) and that clock tower fight was so awesome to see for the first time! It really makes me wish I grew up with this cool gem, and hearing your expierence watching it reminds me of when I tried to watch Aladdin ironically, that merchant guy was so scary to me for some reason lol!

These comments must not go long without bringing up that dancing mouse, so I shall. As a kid, I saw this once and thought she was very pretty. So much so that was one of the first things I thought of when Mouse Detective popped up on Netflix streaming. Watching it I realized, "Oh... Well, no wonder I thought she was pretty."

This is one of my favorite Disney movies. It is the first Disney film that I did not see as a child but saw rather in my teens. (which is probably a good thing, because I probably would have had a similar terrifying experience like yours) and I loved the film. The character of Basil and the dance scene/song were my favorite things about the film. I think it is little masterpiece in its own right.
