yes! i saw zootopia with my friend when it was still in theaters and as soon as the movie was over, we immediately started talking about the parallels/messages (actually, we briefly whispered about the metaphors during the movie a few times.) we thought the movie dealt really well with some issues that, sadly, are all too real in america right now.

(we both agreed that someone needs to sit a certain horribly bigoted cheeto down and show him zootopia. unfortunately, i’m not sure he’d even get the point… ?????)

I honestly didn’t realize how much of a fable it is, and completely agree this is such a good enjoyable learning lesson for kids and definitely one that came out at just the right timing too

Robin Hood: Stealing from wealthy people is okay as long as they’re evil.
101 Dalmatians: It’s okay to keep dozens of stolen puppies.
The Aristocats: Give all of your wealth to your pets instead of your loyal workers, when you die.
Lady and the Tramp: Even if the person treats you like trash, marry them anyway.
Bambi: Life sucks.
The Fox and the Hound: Your life-long friend is actually a horrible person.
Oliver and Company: It’s okay to hang out with street gangs.
The Great Mouse Detective: Revenge is okay.

I turned out great.

I love your points here! Having grown up with the Walt Disney Fables, I agree that it’s a refreshing style to bring to modern-day animation, more so than fairytales. I hadn’t connected Zootopia to the fables, though, which is a very interesting thought. Either way, it’s definitely a great film, and I agree it will help parents and children to work through and understand certain issues in the real world!
