I’ve always loved this movie. I like the Disney movies that take risks, and I always thought Lady and the Tramp was interesting in that everything is fueled by the perspective and understanding of the Dogs, who have personalities.

You would find it even more strange when the rat was originally supposed to be a comic villain. He was even named Herman the Rat and he had dialogue that sounded like a Brooklyn gangster. He would’ve been like Timothy from “Dumbo” but like a bully.

But in the end…he got transformed into this nameless monster shown as this:

And even strangest of all…they had the same designer and animator (Joe Grant and Wolfgang Reitherman)!!

I love this film especially the music, love story and homage to Main Street USA. Only thing that confuses me is why introduce the Siamese cats, have them sing and then forget about them just after? The rat is the true villain which I find strange.
