I really love the promotional posters and Elena’s design; her doll looks very pretty as well. I love her vibrant colours! She deserves a feature length film with top-notch animation and a cinematic release, not a low quality tv series. Hopefully she’ll get one someday.

I guess I read it differently. I saw it as those stereotypes can results. That doesn’t mean they stay forever. If a parent sees a harmful stereotype than they can help deal with it.
That said, I do agree with you about diverse toys. No need to throw out princess movies but have other exposure too.

The point of a study like that is to show that on average, more princess exposure correlates with harmful stereotypes and lower self-esteem. Not every girl is going to be negatively impacted, and we can guess that careful parenting is a protective factor, but to say that lame parenting is the only danger, that would be saying you think most parents are lame. The danger seems to be letting girls spend too much time with the Disney Princess brand. It’s important to make them play with diverse toys and participate in various activities so that they know that can do all kind of stuff and succeed in activities that aren’t typically girly.

Right but with careful parenting I think those stereotypes are easily handled and the positive attributes of the films promoted over the stereotypes. So the only danger is really those who have lame parents.

Yes, it’s good for boys, but it makes girls more likely to have stereotypical behaviors and negative body-image. It didn’t study princess films per say, but overall brand exposure including Disney Princess toys. As always, the proposed solution is varied toys and parent-child discussions.

I saw that article the research was about gender stereotypes being created by the princess films. I think with proper parenting these stereotypes are easily managed and the positive attributes are emphasized. Incidentally that same article said that boys have reduced gender stereotypes from Princess exposure
