Not sure about mixing magic and sci-fi elements – but TOTALLY agree about the female Impossible! As I feared, she is taking attention from the original 3 and affecting their interaction. And while Jonny Quest was a show for both boys and girls to enjoy – I loved it – adding the female member didn’t work there.

They have still added this new member to the Impossibles – too drastic a change, a deal-breaker for me.

I have to disagree. There’s nothing in Future Quest that doesn’t scream ‘light-hearted’. ‘campy’ is debatable, but Gloop and Gleep (those two little jelly-beans with eyes from The Herculoids) are featured in Shaner’s splash-page cover and Birdman still shouts his name when he flies into action. There’s a really fun, adventurous tone all throughout the first issue, with plenty of epic and dramatic moments to spare.

As far as your concerns about The Impossibles, I can only say (with kindness) that your fears are largely unfounded. Look at the cover for Future Quest #1 (the splash page). What exactly is ‘realistic’ about what’s being presented? If the universe of Future Quest can have an intergalactic alien superhero, a superhero secret agent with powers granted from an Egyptian god, a prehistoric superhero with a magical club and a pet dinosaur, a young boy who’s best friend is a giant robot, and a family of humanoid aliens who’s companions are a flying space dragon, a rock ape, and a dinosaur hybrid who can shoot frickin LASERS out of its cannon-horn, then I don’t think a team of teen superheroes are going to break the rules of an already fantastical world.

Finally, who cares if The Impossibles are given a female member. There are already a lot of male characters in the Hanna-Barbera line, so what’s the harm in diversifying whenever it’s appropriate?

Sorry for my long rant, but I assume you are not one to be easily swayed, which is fine. But your view of Future Quest is quite different from the reality.
