I agree. The heart does balance it out and it's always meant in fun not to be mean or pick on people.

The heart really balances out the show. You really feel for this family considering all the insane stuff they're going through. Combine that with the insane animation and hilarious improvisation, it becomes a full bodied show that could very well hold up for seasons to come.

Over the Garden Wall is a masterpiece. The subtlety and depth in the writing is nothing short of brilliant. Miyazaki would be very proud.

Yeah I love how television is keeping 2D animation alive. It's really neat. There really is nice heart in the end to Rick and Morty and it is just so darn creative.

Rick and Morty really is brilliant. It's not so much the crassness of the show, but more the violence that makes me cringe a little. But there's so much heart in here.

Over the past few years we've been given some fantastically touching shows with real series arcs. Gravity Falls, Legend of Kora, Over the Garden Wall, Rick and Morty, BoJack Horseman and of course The Last Air Bender. It's really pointing to a renaissance in animation in the US and I'm loving it. I don't want to watch one episode arcs, I want to get deep into the lives of characters, and Rick and Morty does this amazingly well. I actually think season 1 did it a little better though..
