Yeah. I know there will be a lot of people who would be absolutely offended at the thought of seeing an Illumination Entertainment film anywhere, but it is a bit neat seeing the animation industry reach out to a rarely-untapped crowd (and it might be good for business.

I went to Vidcon in 2014, it was a lot of fun. But there wasn’t a lot there for animators specifically, which I remember commenting on the event’s survey. I remember Jeffery Katzenberg was there though, a sign that animation studios would soon see the advertising potential of teaming up with the youtube crowd. Even Angry Birds got Smosh to do some voices now. Wish I could go this year but I just can’t afford it right now.
