Ok…out of all the films of this era, “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad” is my favorite along with an honorable mention “So Dear to my Heart”, “Song of the South”‘s spared yet unappreciated little brother.

The rest…ehhh…mixed. Even though I still enjoy “Peter and the Wolf” and “Bumble Boogie”.

I thought about mentioning them, as well as Song of the South and So Dear to My Heart, and even went as far as writing a paragraph about VTAP, but in the end I decided against it, as they are not considered as part of Disney's official canon, and our countdown won't be looking at any of them. They would make for an interesting article on their own though. There's a lot of little known Disney history that happened during this era.

It took Disney longer to release these to home video, belying the fact that they are truly animation masterpieces. Of them all, The Three Caballeros was the only one released as a feature film with the original batch of Disney films on VHS in the 1980s (in clam-shell cases), although Mickey and the Beanstalk and some others were released separately as Mini Classics.
I would have liked a mention of The Reluctant Dragon (1941) and Victory Through Air Power (1943), both feature length films, if not considered Animated Masterpieces for their extended use of live-action footage. They are especially interesting: The Reluctant Dragon being released during the Disney animators strike in 1941, and Victory Through Air Power earning just $11,000 over its budget from the box office, but its true value as war propaganda will never be measured.

In reply to tt. The Sleepy Hollow half is great, but I don't particularly care for Mr. Toad's half and I think history has shown which part is more memorable. It doesn't feel right to rank it high when one half of the film is okay and fleetingly amusing at best.

Include these in the canon, sure, but none of these films deserve to be counted among the canon’s top 35. At all.

I love Fun and Fancy Free – It was one of the first movies I ever saw. I was about 5 or 6 and my younger brother got it for his birthday. I don’t think he had much interest in movies, he still doesn’t. I watched it and it has stayed with me ever since. Even though it’s his DVD, it’s in my collection. 😛

Definitely remember Fun & Fancy Free since I saw that first in Spanish (idk why but it was still fun nonetheless) but really gonna be fun seeing the rest of these films if I ever get to in the future and with the articles ^.^
