Nemo is great as an Australian set film.

But I dont even need an urban film. Australia is such a diverse place. There’s tropical rain forests, plains, mountain ranges, and so much more on top of our beautiful cities.

I’d love to see some mainstream films set in Tasmania. Heaps of biodiversity and inpentrable, gloriously green forests.

There’s just more to show off than the desert but then I guess every country has their issues with how they’re portrayed on screen.

In reply to Benjamin Boekelaar. Hmm I guess I can understand that, being from the USA I'm tired of movies set in San Francisco, just so they can show the bridge over and over. But to the rest of us the outback marsupials seems pretty unique. Maybe some Australian animators can tell some urban stories from there? Only one I can think of off the top of my head is the bit of Sydney Harbour in Finding Nemo..

As an Australian I am sick of movies about the Outback. Why not make a movie set where people actually live?

Im actually really interested in this and I like that it’s taking place in the down under. It makes me happy to at least see Dreamworks not make only sequels.

I like musicals so I think this has potential, especially with the songs being original. Plus we haven’t seen many animated films about Australian marsupials, so there’s room to do something fresh. Didn’t Tim Minchin write the Matilda musical? As long as they don’t go too dumb/trendy with the humor, I think it sounds like it could be a good ‘finding yourself’ story!

The plot sounds generic, the ‘misfit animal goes on a road trip in the outback’ has been done before. I like that they are going to another country, but it seems like there are stronger stories to tell. I’m cautious about the decision to make it a rock musical. I think the best we can hope is that it turns out like Rio, which had fun Brazil-inspired songs.
