Love the analysis and deep thought you put in the article Kyle. As a Kid, I have not seen Pinocchio besides knowing the story and the character Jiminy Cricket through Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Fun and Fancy Free, and the several Disney related productions featuring him, but I got a chance to watch it when the film came out through its Platinum Edition on DVD 7 years ago and wow does the film manage to reach the Top 10 of favorite films from the Animated Feature canon thanks to the message it brings up and the relationship between Jiminy and Pinocchio.

My favorite part from the article was that Walt Disney’s second film was actually Bambi, just before he switched sides with Pinocchio instead

Me too! I remember feeling so helpless as a child watching the kids in ‘pleasure island’ not being rescued or my heart jumping to my mouth when the whale chases Pinocchio and the others… But there are so many heartwarming moments, like when he becomes a real boy, that really counterbalance the scale 🙂

Pinocchio is one of Disney’s only honest to God coming of Age stories, and I don’t mean like Lion King where he was lied to and then found out he did nothing wrong. Pinocchio learned his lesson and worked for it. It’s my Favorite Disney film and perhaps the Greatest animated film of all time in my opinion.

In reply to Josh K.. Yeah one of the more frightening aspects about the movie is that all those "innocent" kids (they're just kids after all) don't get a happy ending, which today is very unlike Disney.

Oh Josh… first of all sweet profile picture… second of all you have hit upon one of the issues I struggle with in all of entertainment the “what about…?” question. What about all those other boys left on the island are they going to stay there forever? What happened to La Fou since Gaston died? Did Mushu ever get found out about the Great Stone Dragon?

I do love Pinocchio though.

This is definitely my favorite Disney film, and almost nobody I know shares this opinion! I think the technical aspects of the animation, the story, the characters, the voice acting and the music are all so perfect.
