Interesting positive review for the film! I didn’t think it was horrible, but at the same time, I really couldn’t tell you what was going on in the film either. Then again, I don’t really “like” any of Don Bluth’s films.

In reply to racy1285. I thought it was a unique style that I enjoyed a lot and it reminded me a lot of anime. On the subject of the movie's rating, I read an old interview with the producers and they thought the movie should have been rated PG13 too and were surprised it got PG. I remember they also tried to get The Secret of NIMH rated PG but Hollywood rated it G for some reason. Though personally I don't think Titan AE's content was that much worse than the original Star Wars trilogy which was also rated PG even though it had lots of fantasy violence and some mild language.

In reply to Brooks Austin. I enjoyed the film too. And i consider it one of Bluths best. People need to take into account the circumstances when Bluth made the film. They basically drop the film in his lap with a tiny budget and 19 months to make it. I say to get the type of film we recieved is a miracle and further proves Bluths abilities. Only a real talented director could have pulled it off under those circumstances.

In reply to racy1285. It should also probably be pointed out that Titan A.E. actually came out before Treasure Planet. Titan A.E. was released in 2000 and Treasure Planet came out in 2002. If anything, it seemed like Treasure Planet was kind of riffing on Don Bluth to me but I wonder if Don Bluth drew any inspiration from Treasure Island when he made this movie.

I’ve always loved this movie since I was a kid. I never saw it in theaters but they used to air it on HBO Family all the time and I’ve loved it since. I showed it to my mother a few years ago when it was still on Netflix and that was her first time seeing it and she enjoyed it a lot too. She actually enjoyed it a lot more than she did Anastasia. I’ll have to rewatch it again now since it’s been awhile but I didn’t think the CGI animation was that bad the last time I saw it, at least not any worse than the CGI in Anastasia. But I love the characters, the action, and the soundtrack and all the hammyness of the script. I especially love Planet Bob.

You two sure bring up Treasure Planet alot in this podcast. By the way you talk about it you make it sound like the movie was a big success. When in reality it bombed way worse than this film.
