I’ve been recently thinking about the possibility of a live action WATERSHIP DOWN. If such a movie were to be made, here’s who I would want to be in it:

1. David Morrissey as Hazel

I do wish it wasn’t CG and am concerned by a story I read where they are going to make the female characters more pronounced (the whole last half of the book revolves around a lack of females) and I’m also worried they will tone down the violence too much, losing some of its umph factor.

I would recommend…. James Earl Jones. No he’s too deep. Bill Murray? Nathan Lane maybe. Lane’s voice is somewhat serious, and he is quite formal. Weird opinion, but that might work. A scene in The Producers where Nathan Lane’s character is playing a “game”, he has a deeper voice, but he says a comedic line:

“Of course my little dairy queen. First I’ll take your milk. Then I’ll take your virginity!”

I can’t believe I actually wrote that quote. How I feel now

It’s not uncommon (even in US animation) to have female voice actors play young boys, especially if the role calls for a youthful, higher-pitched sound.

Something tells me that that’s not what they are going for.

Watership down is a classic tale of danger, loss, and victory. I hope the series will capture the emotion like the book and the film. I personally didn’t like the old series.

Will Kehaar be in this?
