I’m American but I’ve been living in France the last 6 years for business. And I don’t recall ever seeing any Disney related program on TV here or other place I’ve traveled in Europe. Other than Disney’s Network channel that’s only available in some countries (and it’s premium service, not many have) you simply don’t see much Disney program on TV. Now if you had said The Simpsons I’d agree!

TJB has been a bit of a surprise for everyone! I don’t think anyone expected it to hit 100 million on opening. The issue I’m seeing at this point is the numbers in China are not as good as Zootopia was. It’s having a good start, but reviews from moviegoers are dropping yet Zoo is still (after a month) around 9.3 – 9.5 / 10 TJB has dropped into the lower 8’s on one site and 7’s in another. The Chinese are very fickle and although a movie might do well on opening it might crash the next weekend. Take BvS for example. Right now it’s looking like it ‘might’ get 1 billion CNY but it’s still early to say. And this is a very important market for Dianey to reach the 1 billion club. Far as domestic goes we’ll just have to see how much of a drop it takes next week anything around 50% we’ll then see how front loaded it is and this would likely keep it in the 250 – 300 million range over it’s life as Civil War drops next month and we all know what it going to do! So in the case of TJB it’s got to put a lot of butts in seats very quickly! So does it have a chance to reach one billion? Possibly! But I don’t feel it’s very likely. All the same even if it doesn’t Disney is doing going to bank this year!

Looks like The Jungle Book is yes too going by its mega openings in India and North America. Disney is ON FIRE!

Oh yes and the background jokes become more apparent with each watch. It is very rewatchable because you aren’t as focused on the message and more on the story/visuals.

I saw it 3 times too! Two in 2D and once in 3D, and when it comes to second-run theaters in a month or so, I’ll see it again! Maybe again and again!! The plot is already spoiled, but each time I watch it I notice more and more detail the animators put into it like their ears when they’re expressing different emotions, how their tails move, the number of hairs drown on- these people spent a LOT of time putting in some of the most minute details I’ve EVER seen!!!

same here. I saw it opening weekend, and I was totally blown away. I still didn’t expect it to be as big as it was overseas, but when I found out Disney made it culturally relevant in all the other regions, now I can see why it’s doing so well- Japan is the key though, if it does well there ($100+ million well), then this will be the next billion dollar movie. It’s only a week out, and so that will tell us, but from what I know about Japan, and their love for anthropomorphic animals, I’m predicting $200 million for Japan (Frozen was just over $250 there).

I don’t know… Look what Toy Story has done! And for that, Zootopia could easily become Disney’s “Toy Story.”

Yeah yeah if it beats them ull say it’s a fluke and then move on to something else.
