Thank you for saying this! I remember all to well hearing just about every one say this film would flop! Even Disney didn’t even seem to much care. Just look at the marketing or lack of… And even at D23 they were all hyped and going on and on about Moana to the point Zootopia felt like a after thought. It’s shameful how this film was treated but I’m happy to see Zootopia got the last laugh.

That’s true. I wasn’t a big fan of the Zootopia trailers. Good point.

Yeah, even I was less excited for Zootopia. Could also be similar to that whole The Lion King/Pocahontas result a while back. The Lion King was looked at the “side-project” while Pocahontas was set to be “Best Picture Nominee” (after Beauty and the Beast) and had the largest showing. People even moved from working on The Lion King to Pocahontas.

I remember when the first teaser for Zootopia came out, a lot of people dismissed it as being some weird furry film or something and were already making fun of it. It wasn’t until after the movie came out and everyone was impressed by it that Zootopia started getting more praise.

I wholeheartedly agree with that first statement. I too have always been so hyped about animated films by listening to the soundtracks before the movie’s release and imagine how they’ll play in the film. And I also like to watch a few minute previews on tv and read the Disney Adventures magazine to learn more about them.
