Why are they making a tv series to a critically bashed movie? This one looks too syrupy and cutesy anyway. And I do not like the new animation style. Similar to what they did with Mr. Peabody and Sherman, another mediocre film based off of a tv series that didn't need to be continued. Don't get me wrong, Home was a mildly entertaining movie, but I don't think it needs to be continued.

But why did Mr Peabody and Turbo get Netflix shows when they so obviously underperformed at the box office? At least make one for the Guardians as well!

Okay. This offends me on multiple levels.

First off, I'm offended by the fact that they even had the gall to turn HOME, of all the movies in the Dreamworks library, into a full series. I mean, it's the first major financial "hit" the studio has had in a few years, and I'm sure it's gotten popularity on Netflix...but why? Why not something like a Megamind show? Or maybe even a Guardians show like Rob was saying? Home itself is a somewhat wrapped-up story, even if it ends on a pseudo-sequel hook.

Second off, from a perspective of the movie's style, this goes completely against it. I personally despised Home on account of being (in my opinion) one of the most tone-deaf and vapid movies to come from the studio, putting more emphasis on Jim Parsons doing an annoying voice and it's musical selections and usage of making the "Shut Up and Drive" sequence from Wreck-It Ralph look subtle and fitting by comparison. However, the redesign shown goes completely against the design style of the movie.

In the film, for those who didn't read the art book, the Boov and Humans (in regards to how they and their structures/buildings/ect) were represented by two shapes: Circles and more spherical objects for the Boov, squares and rectangles for Humanity.

Here, EVERYTHING is more rounded. I mean, the show is clearly aimed at a younger audience and they likely wouldn't notice (and, admittedly, it's been some time since I've seen the film proper), but it still goes against the style of the film proper.

To cut the chase, the designs look somewhat...generic? Oh looks fine, Pig is...okayish, Tip is practically unrecognizable (likely due to giving her a MASSIVE haircut), and the design on her mom is just kinda...off. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong, but it feels off.

In conclusion...we'll just have to see how this plays out.
