The entire 1954 animated film “Animal Farm” was disturbing (we watched in school alongside reading the novel) but especialy the scene where Boxer the horse is put into the back of the van that will take him to the glue factory. It’s not a graphic scene but the impression of the skull and crossbones on the back of the van is a haunting image of his death sentence.

Sleeping Beauty, when Princess Aurora is weeping after returning to her birthplace. Suddenly the fireplace calms, the flame goes out, and we see her Maleficent’s devilish green eyes with the terrifying musical score building scene’s the mood. Terrified me as kid and disturbs me today with those green eyes gazing into my soul.

I just remembered one that I totally forgot to add to my section of the article! The scene in The Little Mermaid where Ursula eats the little shrimp creature alive! That part freaked me out so badly! The creepy worm/seaweed creatures in Ursula’s garden were quite scary too, but the poor little shrimp being eaten alive was just way too disturbing.

Well definitely the tree scene in Snow White, but also when we first meet the peddler and the introduction to Jafar in Aladdin for some weird reason

MJ Edwards: I’ll even go as far to say he’s the scariest Disney villain. Now that I’m older, I really applaud Disney for going this far, and I wonder if they’ll ever attempt something as dark as this again?

Well Disney is planning a live action “The Black Cauldron” so we’ll see I guess. The main villain wasn’t The Horned King in the book supposedly it was some guy named Arawn Death Lord.

The first five minutes of Finding Nemo still scare the shit outta me. Seriously, I still can’t watch. Right when the baracuda shows up, I cover my ears and eyes.
And of course, probably still my top pick: The opening scenes of Tarzan. Especially later when Kala looks for the source of the crying, and she discovers the ACTUAL CORPSES of Tarzans parents lying in the corner, plus the bloody pawprints and bullet shells on the floor. WTF, Disney?
(Those are both very faves of mine, but still … TERRIFYING AF)
