Comments on: Four Live-Action Films that Need Animated Remakes

Despite the lackluster at the box office, an animated/GCI version of “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” would make me excited *if* it could be done properly! I could imagine two potential versions: either a darker and more adult version based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore or a lighthearted and fun swashbuckling adventure (think “TIntin” or “Ducktales”) with steampunk themes.

An animated Indian Jones would be amazing. Heck, even an animated series would be awesome.

We all know these type of movies will never be made for animation, and even if they did, parents and other adults will pan them for not being a safe, generic, child-friendly comedy.

Seriously though, the article has interesting ideas! There’s a lot of potential, but it’s all in the
execution. It’s challenging to think about how the tone would change &
how different they’d be. I wonder if old Fred Astaire/Gene Kelly
type films would be cool, some of the story-lines are really funny! Or
how about remakes of silents like Buster Keaton or Chaplin’s. Hmmm…
Most of the live action films in my library are family fantasies, so it’s
hard to say what would be ‘moving animation forward’. Matilda, Bridge to
Terabithia…Stargate, Lost In Space..Narnia… But with other more serious live action dramas, it’s hard to think of reasons for them to be animated, but maybe it’s just the fact that they wouldn’t draw in the current audience. It’s worth exploring though!
