I didn't know that about the Russian space program. Thanks for sharing and the spoiler warning (I could have gone into more in the review but figured I'd keep it spoiler free). I cried a lot at that ending but stories about friends are soft spot for me. I never thought of it as a dream or fantasy. Interesting takes!

I really enjoyed this film. The themes of freindship were conveyed so well, and there were no words at all. I love dialogue free shorts, and this one was top notch in that regard. However, the whole time I was watching it I was wondering if it was supposed to be based on a true story.

Before I continue I want to put a >>SPOILER WARNING<< here, because I know a lot of people won't have had a chance to see it yet, so if you have not seen it, and you want to avoid having the end spoiled for you, turn back now.

You have been warned.

Knowing that the most famous stories of the Russian space program almost always end in the death of the astronaut, I basically knew that one or both of them were doomed from the start. Now, given the way that it ended I think I was probably mistaken in thinking that it was based on a true story, but I still wonder if it wasn't very loosely based on the (alleged) story of Vladimir Komarov and Yuri Gagarin. You can read that story here, but I warn you, it's VERY depressing, especially because it's probably true.

That aside, I really liked the story, even with the somewhat confusing ending. Was it a dream? Was the whole thing fantasy? I don't know, but I really liked it anyway.

While this short is not my favorite of the five, it is still extremely good, and I would not be too upset if it won over my favorites. (World of Tomorrow and Sanjay's Super Team.)
