I like the idea of Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins. I’m less excited about them revisiting the Banks’. A reimagining of Mary Poppins only became tolerable for me when I found out it was going to be a sequel, not necessarily a remake. It helps in keeping the two separate in case the follow-up is subpar. Call it insurance. I would have rather seen Mary take residence with some new characters completely disconnected from the Banks’s. .
