Ruby and Sapphire are a lesbian (well, they’re technically agender sentient space rocks who identify and present themselves as female) couple from the Cartoon Network show “Steven Universe”. Their relationship is canon, too.

As a lesbian, I love that we’re starting to see same-sex couples in animation. I hope Disney hops aboard the train and adds Elsa to the list of canonically queer characters.

Just re-watched it recently. I love this film to death. Easily my pick for the most underrated Studio Ghibli film. And this couple…oh boy! They’re just so down to earth, sticking it together, even when they’re fighting. They’re the animated equivalent of Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor in Giant (1956).
