Seriously, the humans? Those people look like they have about the proportions of the “anime-style” people I drew in 5th grade. (Hint: they were bad.)
And Blue Sky seems to have stepped up its game, if The Peanuts Movie is anything to go by.
This movie makes me think that Lionsgate did its research, but all the wrong kind- instead of good animation or storylines, they went for “what will get us the most cheap laughs?” Sigh. At least they didn’t ruin any memes. The memes are safe. (Or did they? I have not subjected myself to the torture. Please don’t tell me they referenced doge or John Cena or something.)

I watch a lot of American animated movies, which means seeing a lot of trailers that might skew toward younger viewers (read: Hotel Transylvania, which I admit to enjoying don’t think it or its sequel got a fair shake). But a single look of this trailer & I could just imagine the terrible jokes & cliche tropes studios think kids like. When the anjmation is barely passable as TV quality & they don’t tell you the voice actors in the trailer, you know it’s sign that it’s worse than terrible.

I don’t think the kids were even entertained by this. Every other review I’ve seen said the kids in the audience were bored out of their minds.

This is the one problem i have with movies, especially kids movies who think this is what their audience wants. In short treating their audience like they’re stupid.
